Turismo Carretera to Leave Buenos Aires, Return to Rafaela

The Turismo Carretera Road Runners Association (ACTC) confirmed that Turismo Carretera will not race in Buenos Aires for the entire 2026 season and officially announced the return of Rafaela to the calendar.

ACTC closed the door on the Juan and Oscar Gálvez racetrack amidst a political conflict with the Argentine Automobile Club (ACA) and proceeded to build a calendar that will repeat next year's format.

The decision was ratified by ACTC President Hugo Mazzacane, who stated that “no category overseen by ACTC will be at Gálvez” and attributed the determination to the course chosen by the City Government.

Mazzacane emphasized that this is not about the works scheduled for MotoGP 2027 or the efforts to attract Formula 1, but rather a political and administrative disagreement that has deepened in recent months.

According to Automundo and as compiled by the Argentine News Agency, the breakdown is due to the City Government's approval for TC2000 to set up a street race in the vicinity of the racetrack, a move that strengthened the alliance between that category and the ACA, a central actor in the dispute over the governance of national motorsport. As a result, ACTC distanced itself and decided to cut all ties with the Buenos Aires circuit.

In parallel, Mazzacane celebrated the return of Rafaela, which was absent in 2025, and highlighted the historical value of its oval with three chicanes. He stated that a new stage focused on improving racetracks and services for teams and drivers is beginning, with the goal of consolidating the presence of traditional venues on the calendar.

Mazzacane avoided escalating the personal conflict with ACA President César Carman and affirmed that he “maintains a correct relationship” despite the lack of progress in previous meetings. He explained that they stopped attending when “reality indicated there was no good way out,” but he is willing to resume dialogue if the ACA requests it.

How the 2026 TC season will begin The TC and TC Pista will open the championship on February 14-15 in El Calafate. The schedule will then continue on March 8 in Viedma, March 29 in Neuquén, and April 19 at Cabalén in Alta Gracia.

The 15 dates will be maintained, and the Gold Cup will again begin in San Luis on the eleventh date.

Also on the table are Toay, Termas de Río Hondo, Posadas, Concepción del Uruguay, San Nicolás, and Paraná, although some specifics are still pending confirmation.
